Have you read the giver?

i also need help with this question below

Research the literary meaning of the word 'allusion,' I would suggest using your Prentice Hall Literature textbook. Then, respond to the following question: The name Jonas is a variation of the name Jonah. In the Bible, the prophet Jonah was commissioned by the Lord to proclaim judgment upon a sinful city. Why might Lois Lowry have chosen Jonas as the name of her main character?Have you read the giver?
because she didn't want to name him Jesus.Have you read the giver?
An allusion is a figure of speech that makes a reference to, or representation of, a place, event, literary work, myth, or work of art, either directly or by implication (in this case the Bible). You can see the similarities between Jonas in the Giver and Jonah in the Bible.

some of the Biblical allusions such as Jonas's and Gabriel's name, and the Christmas-time setting, a condemnation of religion.

The Giver gave Jonas information that revealed the secrets of the society, just as the lord revelased to Jonah to proclaim the judgement on the sinful city.
