SOCIAL STUDIES HOMEWORK HELP!!!!!!!!!!?

Okay so, i have this social studies homework. Its about America but America in the 1600's. Its about Toleration's and Puritans and Pilgrims, all the things that occurred in and before the 1600's. The question they asked me was: How was the land farmed in the Tidewater region ans in the Virginia backcountry? Anybody know??? PLZ PLZ PLZ I REALLY need the answer to this question. Oh and the textbook I'm using is 'Prentice Hall AMERICA- History of our nation'SOCIAL STUDIES HOMEWORK HELP!!!!!!!!!!?
The first site below talks about the Pilgrims in Massachusetts. However, the Virginia area planters tended to clear woods land and plant tobacco as a cash crop, which depletes the soil. Rather than use crop rotation or fertilizer, the colonists simply cleared more land. This decreased the amount of wildlife, the amount of area for hunting and gathering food for native Americans, and did nothing to prepare for the droughts every three years , more or less.

The second site has some paragraphs on farming in Early Virginia.
