Do you consider it more important to protect children from sex or violence on television, in movies, in video games, in music, and/or other forms of entertainment?
Please explain why. Feel free to break down to specifics as you explain.Poll: Do you consider it more important to protect children from sex or violence in the media?I think people snap off answers too quickly. It is very important not to but your own personal opinions before the well being of your child.
I have a 2 year old son. Often times when he is playing I will see him doing something only slightly dangerous, instead of stopping him I only warn him once. Such as running too quickly on the grass, ill let him fall, because Ill tell you what, he hardly ever falls now its so rare. He steps up on to and off of curbs on his own, he walks through the parking lots on his own two feet yet has the intelligence to not do it without me and to hold my hand or stay right by me if he isn't holding my hand. We do not give children enough credit, their smart.
None of this is to say let your children run off and cause a muck but responsible decisions come from education and realistic, reasonable decision making skills. Sheltering your children too much takes away their ability to develop responsible decision making skills. Mommy and daddy wont be there for them to choose for forever.Poll: Do you consider it more important to protect children from sex or violence in the media?
I say violence. I've learned that if you push the whole "protection from sex" thing too hard, they're going to push back. They're going to have to learn about it (though TV isn't a very good teacher).
The truth is that this is reality. You can't protect children from that.Poll: Do you consider it more important to protect children from sex or violence in the media? Both, equally. I think a child should maintain their innocence as long as possible. Kids at school whose parents don't monitor what they are doing with corrupt him enough. I try my best to keep him watching things for his age group and NOTHING too grown up.Poll: Do you consider it more important to protect children from sex or violence in the media?
I'm not saying cut your kids off from the world, but keeping an eye on the amount of either in what they're watching would be a good idea. Or at least being able to talk to your kids about it all.Poll: Do you consider it more important to protect children from sex or violence in the media?I only protect my children from the paparazzi.Poll: Do you consider it more important to protect children from sex or violence in the media?
Neither.
